The University of Ghana has debunked media reports suggesting the cancellation of official university events following a recent health advisory on the resurgence of COVID-19 cases.
In a statement issued by the Public Affairs Directorate on Thursday, June 26, University Management emphasised that the restrictions announced earlier apply strictly to student social activities, not institutional or official programmes. "Management wishes to clarify that the restriction on social gatherings pertains solely to student activities, as clearly outlined in a prior notice issued by the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, announcing the suspension of all student social events," the statement said.
According to the notice, all official university events will proceed as planned, with full adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols.
These include: The Inaugural Lecture taking place today, Thursday, June 26, 2025 The climax of the 2025 Day of Scientific Renaissance of Africa (DSRA), scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2025 The university's management encouraged all members of the academic community to remain vigilant and comply strictly with all health and safety guidelines during the upcoming events. "The University community is hereby informed that all scheduled official university events remain unaffected and will proceed as planned, with appropriate health and safety protocols in place," the statement added.
