Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has petitioned President to take decisive action following the circulation of a viral video showing two gay men kissing, an incident the MP describes as a direct affront to Ghana's spiritual and cultural values.
In a petition dated Thursday, June 26, 2025, he expressed worry over the development and urged the president to publicly condemn the incident and take legislative action to prevent similar occurrences in future. "People say, the NPP government failed to act.
That failure, they argue, was part of the reasons they were voted out, you now have the chance to prove that your leadership will not only be different but will stand for something higher: a defence of our spiritual and cultural integrity", he noted.
The MP called on President Mahama to address the nation and reaffirm Ghana's commitment to traditional values. "I am pleading with you, Your Excellency, let your voice be heard now.
