The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has urged the public to strictly adhere to COVID-19 protocols following a localised resurgence within the University of Ghana community.
In a statement issued on Thursday, June 26, 2025, and signed by the Acting Director-General, Professor Samuel Kara Akobevea, it noted that all reported cases are mild, with no hospital admissions. "The current cases are all mild with no admissions.
However, if you experience any of the following symptoms including fever, cough, sore throat, difficulty in breathing, loss of taste or smell, please report immediately to the nearest hospital," the statement said.
The GHS also disclosed that it is working closely with university authorities to contain the outbreak and review measures in response to the evolving situation. "The Ministry of Health, through the Ghana Health Service, assures the University community and the general public that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent further spread and to control the outbreak effectively," it added.
