The Ghana Education Service (GES) has raised concerns about the lack of unified leadership among newly posted teachers who continue to protest over salary delays and other grievances.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, a GES representative explained how the ever-changing faces and leadership of the protesting groups are making communication and resolution efforts difficult. "I must add that unfortunately, we are realizing that at almost every point in time, new sets of aggrieved teachers pop up," the official said. "So even though we have gone very far in this process, and even at the tail end of it, we have realized that." Citing recent examples, the spokesperson explained that those who submitted the first petition were different from those involved in subsequent ones. "For example, for the first petition, the people who came and the leadership they gave us were quite different from the second petition, and even yesterday's petition-the faces that showed up and the new leadership they gave us-was also quite different from the people we have been dealing with.
So it makes communication quite difficult." The GES assured the public that it remains committed to resolving the concerns of all affected teachers but appealed for better coordination and consistency in representation to ensure smoother dialogue.
