A former National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan, has stated that he will never advise President John Dramani Mahama to seek a third term by allowing the Supreme Court to interpret the Constitution.
This comes after NPP's Freddie Blay suggested he would support a Supreme Court interpretation to permit Mahama's third term.
In an interview with Okay FM on June 23, 2025, Yaw Boateng Gyan emphasised that allowing President Mahama to run for a third term is not a good idea. "I will never advise him to allow the Supreme Court to touch the Constitution on this matter," he said.
He referenced the recent vetting of Supreme Court nominees, where Afenyo-Markin asked about term limits, and the nominees confirmed the two terms, with one specifying "two consecutive terms".
