The NIA Division of the Public Services Workers' Union (PSWU) of TUC (Ghana) has announced an indefinite strike action, set to begin on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
This decision follows a breakdown in discussions with the Ministry of Finance regarding delayed payments of the Operational Support Allowance owed to staff.
In an official notice dated June 23, 2025, the Union stated, "We write to formally inform you that the Union will embark on an indefinite strike action, effective Tuesday, June 24, 2025." The Union explained that the allowance-meant to supplement the basic pay of NIA staff-was agreed upon after extensive negotiations in July 2024, with payments scheduled from August to December 2024.
However, the Ministry of Finance has allegedly failed to follow through, with payments stalling since January 2025.
