The Ghana Police Service arrested 23 individuals in an anti-galamsey operation in the Wassa Akropong District of the Western Region.
The arrests followed a series of coordinated, intelligence-driven operations targeting illegal mining hotspots across the area.
During the crackdown, police stormed locations along the Wassa Akropong-Japa-Dadieso stretch, where the suspects were rounded up.
The operation was later extended to the Obeng Mining Group site in Wassa Japa, resulting in the disabling of 64 changfan machines used for illegal mining.
