The anti-galamsey task force of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) seized and disabled four excavators used by illegal miners in Kyebi, Eastern Region.
This occurred during a strategic operation on Sunday, June 15, when the task force departed from Accra to clamp down on illegal mining activities in the area.
According to eyewitness reports, the offenders abandoned their equipment and fled the site as the task force approached.
The team, however, apprehended some illegal miners in the towns of Asikam and Potrase, within the greater Kyebi area, according to a report by 3news.com on June 22, 2025.
