Former Presidential staffer Dennis Miracles Aboagye has argued that Ghana's political history supports the chances of former Vice President Dr.

Mahamudu Bawumia making a strong comeback in future elections, despite his loss in 2024. "President Mills, I think, did about 40, 41 to 42 percent before he did 44 percent, before finally he came for the third time and won," Aboagye explained in an interview with the media during Bawumia's high-profile meeting with former Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) monitored by MyNewsGh. "Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had to contest in 2008 and 2012 before finally winning in 2016." He also referenced President John Dramani Mahama's trajectory, highlighting that even after suffering what was once considered the NDC's most crushing defeat, he returned to claim victory in 2024. "His Excellency John Dramani Mahama himself, until the 2024 elections, lost an election in this country-at that time, an unprecedented loss of over a million votes," he said. "And yet he managed to come back and win with close to another two million votes." Aboagye pushed back against suggestions that a first electoral defeat disqualifies a candidate from future success. "There is no statistic that says if you go into an election once and lose, you cannot win again. "To the contrary, the data in this country shows that those who make a strong showing in their first attempt are those who usually win in their second," he said.

He concluded by linking that trend to the Vice President's potential: "That is why all the data and electoral history favour Dr.

Mahamudu Bawumia going into the future."
