The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has cautioned former Board Chairman of the Ghana Audit Service, Professor Edward Dua Agyeman, over his use of the title 'Professor' in official documents.

In a letter dated June 17, 2025, the commission expressed concern over the use of academic titles by individuals who have not provided documentation to substantiate their claims.

According to a report by graphic.com.gh, the commission has instructed him to submit documents and evidence of his appointment as a professor by any recognised institution.

Additionally, it is also demanding that Prof Agyeman provides formal letters confirming his promotion to the rank of professor. "For the avoidance of doubt, the Commission wishes to formally express its concern regarding the use of academic titles that have not been duly earned or conferred through a recognized academic process," copy of the letter is quoted as saying by graphic.com.gh.
