Former Director of the Ghana School of Law, Kwaku Ansa-Asare, has called for the establishment of a cap on the number of judges serving on Ghana's Supreme Court.

He believes such a measure would help minimise political interference and ensure greater judicial independence.

Speaking on Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem on June 17, 2025, Ansa-Asare said implementing a cap would help reduce the perception of political bias in the judiciary. "When the capping is enforced, political bias and influence will be minimal, and it will allow the right qualified people to be appointed for the right judgments," he stated.

He argued that the current system allows the President to appoint an unlimited number of justices, which could potentially tilt the court in favour of a particular political interest.
