The Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, Yaa-Naa Abukari II, has paid a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama, at the Presiden­cy in Accra last Thursday.The visit was for the Overlord to offer his congratulations to Presi­dent Mahama on his re-election in December 2024 and express sup­port for his leadership and vision for the nation.In a congratulatory message de­livered on behalf of the Yaa-Naa by Naa Bapir Zangbaling-Naa, Dr Jacob Yakubu Mahama, Paramount Chief of Zangbalinga, the Dagbon overlord commended the President for the leadership he has brought to bear since assuming office.He conveyed the Dagbon peo­ple's appreciation to the President for his ongoing efforts to revitalise the Ghanaian economy and pro­mote inclusive governance."Mr President, I am happy to be here today with my chiefs and elders to offer our warmest con­gratulations to you and the good people of Ghana on your assump­tion of office," the Yaa-Naa said."This marks a new chapter in Ghana's development journey, and I am confident your leadership will usher in an era of growth, peace, and prosperity."The Overlord lauded Presi­dent Mahama's swift actions to restore economic stability, citing the sustained appreciation of the Ghana Cedi against major trading currencies.He was full of praise for Pres­ident Mahama for his decision to reduce the size of government, strengthen cabinet efficiency, and introduce a Code of Conduct for appointees, describing these ini­tiatives as "landmark steps toward transparency and accountability."The Yaa-Naa also commended the President's efforts to engage citizen in decision making, refer­encing the recently held National Economic and Education Dia­logues as powerful examples of inclusive leadership."By bringing together experts, stakeholders, and citizens from all walks of life, you have shown a willingness to listen, learn, and adapt.

These dialogues are shaping a long-term vision for Ghana's development," he added wished the President well in the rest of his tenure.On his part, President Mahama expressed appreciation to the Yaa-Naa for the support and counsel he's always made available to him.He reiterated his administration's resolve to work closely with tradi­tional authorities to bring develop­ment close to the people."Tradition is foundational, this government will not sideline tradi­tional rulers.
