The government has announced the immediate closure of its embassy in Tehran, Iran, in a move aimed at safeguarding the lives of diplomatic staff amid rising tensions in the region.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, , made the announcement in a statement posted on X, on June 16, 2025. "To guarantee the safety of our embassy staff, Ghana's embassy in Tehran has been closed with immediate effect," he stated.
Ablakwa disclosed that operations of the Ghanaian embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, have also been scaled down significantly.
He advised all Ghanaian nationals living in Israel to maintain close contact with the consular department for updates and assistance. "In the interim, we have instructed that embassy operations in Tel Aviv to be reduced to the barest minimum, and all Ghanaians in Israel must maintain close communication with our consular department," he indicated.
