Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, is expected to appear before Parliament this week to address the prolonged impasse over the unresolved parliamentary election in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

The constituency has been without parliamentary representation since the December 7 general elections, following a dispute over the collation of results from several polling centres.

The deadlock has left constituents without an MP for more than six months.

In an effort to break the stalemate, the Minority Caucus on June 4 petitioned the Ghana Police Service to provide adequate security to enable the EC to complete the re-collation exercise in a safe and transparent manner.
