The Government of Ghana has officially announced that the contract between the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and Zoomlion Ghana Limited has expired and will not be renewed.
In a letter dated June 11, 2025, issued by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, the Presidency acknowledged concerns raised in a petition advocating for the contract's discontinuation.
The government confirmed its decision not to extend the agreement, citing the need for a competitive procurement process in future sanitation contracts.
To enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness, Cabinet has directed that upcoming sanitation contracts be awarded through regional or district-based tenders, allowing private firms to compete based on service quality and pricing.
