A Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr Isaac Brako, believes that the outcome of the Akwatia by-election will have no significant impact on the 2024 general elections.
According to him, the outcome of this election may not be a reliable indicator of the general polls due to the various factors that influence general elections, which are often constituency-based.
Speaking on OTEC 102.9 FM's afternoon political show Dwabrem, Dr Brako noted that factors like ethnicity and others can alter the dynamics of elections, making it challenging to draw direct conclusions from by-elections to general polls.
His comments come after the (NPP) lost its parliamentary seat to the (NDC) in the by-election, sparking concerns about the NPP's popularity.
