The Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange in Accra has been hit by large-scale theft and vandalism, with almost 1,000 metal components of guardrails and other protective metal fixtures stolen.

The missing parts, which formed critical safety features of the interchange have left motorists and pedestrians exposed to serious risks, according to a report by graphic.com.gh on September 4, 2025.

The report noted that, "A total of 964 metal components of the road system have been stolen, exposing motorists to danger.

The entire elements stolen, as made available to the Daily Graphic, comprise 354 spacer blocks, bolts and nuts; 185 U-connector bolts, nuts and washers; 118 sets of washer plates; 145 head plate bolts, nuts and washers; 59 reflectors, 37 U-connectors, 37 box hand railings and 29 pairs of head plate".
