Legal counsel for Yaw Asante Agyekum, George Bernard Shaw, has sharply criticised Ghana's justice system, alleging it failed his client, who spent 23 years in prison before being acquitted.

Agyekum was sentenced to 35 years in 2010 after being linked to notorious armed robber Ataa Ayi, who received a 160-year sentence.

However, the Court of Appeal overturned Agyekum's conviction on June 5, 2025, citing a lack of credible evidence.
