A member of the (NPP) Communications Team, George Kwarteng Adenta, has raised strong concerns over the continued detention of NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
In a post on his official Facebook page, Kwarteng stated that Wontumi has been in custody for more than 48 hours without being released, an act he described as a violation of his fundamental human rights. "More than 48 hours and Chairman Wontumi is still in EOCO custody.
This constitutes a violation of his fundamental human rights," Kwarteng wrote.
He further called on President John Dramani Mahama to pay close attention to the situation, cautioning that the actions of state agencies under his leadership could have serious legal and political consequences. "President Mahama must be concerned about the implications of his administration's actions," Kwarteng warned, suggesting that the continued detention reflects poorly on the rule of law and democratic principles.
