Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has publicly condemned former Attorney-General Godfred Dame for what he describes as a breach of professional ethics during the controversial Ambulance purchase trial.
Speaking on TV3's Keypoints, Kpebu said, "As a society, we were very clear at the time that Godfred Dame has breached the ethics of the profession. "It doesn't even matter the outcome of the GLC's investigation into the matter, the fact remains that as citizens we heard what Dame said in the tape and it was unethical.
GLC can say otherwise." The statement refers to an audio recording, admitted as evidence in court, in which Dame was allegedly heard attempting to influence the testimony of Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the trial.
Kpebu emphasized the urgency of public accountability, adding, "This is not a case we can say we will wait for the GLC decision. "We must hold him accountable in the court of public opinion before the GLC investigates because this matter had embarrassed us." In a separate development, Godfred Yeboah Dame, who served as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, has come under scrutiny for representing suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo in her ongoing Supreme Court case.
