Power is yet to be restored to Obuasi and neighboring communities following a fire outbreak at GRIDCo's substation, which led to a transformer explosion and the destruction of power infrastructure serving the area.
In an interview with Citi News, the Public Relations Officer for ECG Ashanti West, Benjamin Obeng Antwi, stated that GRIDCo officials have assured that power will be restored by the close of day. "We at ECG, we're on standby.
Once GRIDCo rectifies the challenge at their end, we'll distribute power supply to our cherished customers," he said.
He explained that ECG will be able to transmit power once the issue at GRIDCo's end is resolved, as the problem originated from GRIDCo's substation and ECG relies on GRIDCo for power transmission.
