Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has confirmed a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Ghana, with the latest outbreak centered at the University of Ghana campus. Addressing Parliament, the Minister revealed that 107 cases have so far been confirmed out of 316 suspected samples, with the highly transmissible Omicron variant identified as the cause.According to Mr.
Akandoh, the surge in cases was largely triggered by a social event on campus. "Mr.
Speaker, after sending in a team to investigate, we found a few key issues that fuelled the spread.
The most significant factor was the recent Hall Week celebrations held at the University.
