The incumbent Member of Parliament for Suhum, Kwadwo Asante, has announced his decision to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming election.

This follows his loss in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary to Frank Asiedu Bekoe, also known as Protozoa.

Despite his defeat, numerous NPP supporters in the constituency encouraged him to contest independently.

Mahamudu Bawumia and Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong, attempted to dissuade him from this path.

However, on Sunday, September 1, Boafo officially declared his candidacy as an independent, putting an end to months of speculation.

Speaking to a large crowd of supporters after a health walk at the Suhum Amponsah Market, he stated that he was answering the call of his constituents to continue his developmental efforts in the area.
