A violent protest by students of Nkwanta Senior High School in the Nkwanta South District of the Oti Region, triggered by the confiscation of students' mobile phones by school authorities, has led to the vandalism of school properties and the arrest of nine individuals.
According to school authorities, the confiscation of mobile phones was prompted by students' frequent distractions during lessons.
This led the administration to conduct a search and seizure operation class by class to retrieve the devices, a report by UTV on May 14, 2025, said.
However, the action taken by the authorities angered and infuriated the students, who in response stormed the school premises in protest.
