The West African Regional Director of CUTS International, Appiah Kusi Adomako, has proposed that the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) undertake price monitoring and publish indicative prices of essential goods to ensure fairness for consumers amid the recent appreciation of the Ghana cedi.

Speaking on Eyewitness News with Sammi Wiafe on Wednesday, May 14, Mr.

Kusi Adomako said the GSS could calculate cost build-ups-factoring in overheads and profit margins-to establish benchmark prices that reflect real market conditions. "We can also allow the Ghana Statistical Service to do price monitoring of goods from the ports.

And add economic margins to it, and start publishing indicative prices of common commodities in the market.
