The General Secretary of the (NDC), , has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of attempting to distort Ghana's economic narrative by taking credit for the recent appreciation of the cedi.

According to him, the NPP is scrambling to claim political glory for an economic recovery they had no hand in.

Speaking on JoyNews' PM Express on May 13, 2025, Kwetey argued that the NPP is being disingenuous by celebrating the cedi's stability while refusing to take responsibility for what he described as the economic mess they left behind in. "They want to take credit for the recent cedi stability but forget that they were the very architects of the collapse," he indicated.

He accused the NPP of cherry-picking economic indicators that suit their narratives, while ignoring the broader context of the financial difficulties that plagued their administration.
