The newly confirmed Mayor of Tema, Ebi Bright, has confidently asserted her deep-rooted connection to the city, dismissing any suggestions that she is an outsider to the community she now leads.
This follows criticisms and contentions surrounding her nomination ahead of her confirmation on Friday, May 9.
Speaking in an interview following her confirmation on Citi Eyewitness News, Bright affirmed that her personal and family history is intertwined with Tema's identity, making her uniquely positioned to understand and serve its people. "I am not a stranger because I am the very definition of who Tema is today," she said. "My family is in its fifth generation here." Beyond her long-standing residency, Bright highlighted her active relationship with traditional authorities and her respect for local customs and leadership structures. "I have also paid allegiance and homage and enjoyed a good relationship with traditional authorities," she added.
