Medical diagnostics firm SYNLAB Ghana has pushed back against what it describes as a misleading media narrative surrounding a lawsuit filed against the company over alleged HIV test errors.

The case, which is currently pending in court, involves a GHC10 million legal claim by a female client who alleges she was wrongly diagnosed as HIV-positive, resulting in the loss of her job and damage to her reputation.

In a public statement issued on Tuesday, July 1, SYNLAB confirmed its awareness of the lawsuit but emphasized that the reporting around the issue has been both "inaccurate" and "prejudicial." "While we respect the individual's right to seek legal redress, we strongly reject the narrative being propagated in the media," the company said.

The company said it has filed a formal statement of defence denying all allegations and has engaged legal counsel to cooperate fully with the court process.
