Ghanaian actress-turned-politician and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Tema Central in the 2024 elections, Ebi Bright, has been confirmed as the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for the Tema Metropolitan Assembly.
She secured 28 "yes" votes from the assembly members, with 3 voting "no".
Her appointment has sparked mixed reactions, with some residents opposing her nomination due to concerns that she's not an indigene of Tema.
Following the swearing in of Ebi Bright - the first female mayor of Tema by the Greater Accra Regional Minister on Friday, May 9, she assured of efforts to help realise the President's 24-hour economy agenda in her new role.
