Retired Supreme Court Justice William Atuguba has taken a swipe at the opposition (NPP) for the strong resistance it has mounted against the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Sackey Torkornoo.
Sharing his views on the matter as a respected legal luminary in an interview on JoyNews on May 7, 2025, Justice Atuguba criticised the NPP, accusing the party of hypocrisy in its stance on the Chief Justice's suspension.
According to him, the party, during its tenure in government, acted in ways that were not in the interest of Ghanaians and was dishonest in its dealings.
He therefore questioned the NPP's moral authority to criticise developments surrounding the processes intended to remove the Chief Justice. "… How were they when they were in office?
