The Circuit Court in Sunyani has sentenced Nana Agyeman Badu, an Over-the-Counter medicine seller at Chiraa in the Bono Region, to 17 years in prison with hard labor for selling and exhibiting expired medical products.
The conviction follows a joint operation by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and the Bono Regional Police Command in 2022, during which expired medicines were seized from Badu's shop.
He was subsequently prosecuted for violating the law on the sale of prohibited medical products.
Delivering judgment on April 29, 2025, His Honour Sylvester Nii Okine Ablorh also imposed a fine of GHS 12,000.00 on Badu.
