Governance Analyst, Prof.
Baffour Agyemang-Duah has criticised President John Dramani Mahama's decision to penalise government appointees who fail to declare their assets with forfeiture of three months' salary, instead of immediate dismissal.
The President, while launching a Code of Conduct for government appointees in Accra on Monday, May 5, gave a firm directive that any appointee who failed to meet the final deadline of May 7, 2025, will face sanctions-including the forfeiture of three months' salary and possible removal from office.
The directive follows some appointees missing the March 31 deadline and forms part of the government's push to strengthen transparency and accountability in public office.
