Nana Akua Afriyie, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Ablekuma North, has vowed that the party will not relinquish the constituency seat to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting she won the election and must be declared the rightful MP.

The constituency has remained without a Member of Parliament due to ongoing disputes between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the two parties claim victory, in the December 7, 2024, general election.

Multiple efforts to resolve the impasse and declare official results have so far been unsuccessful.

Speaking at the "Save the Judiciary" demonstration organised by the NPP-led coalition on Monday, May 5, 2025, Madam Afriyie expressed frustration over delays in the official declaration of results for the constituency. "I won the election with 414 more votes, it hasn't changed.
