Dr John Osae-Kwapong, a research fellow at the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to acknowledge its electoral defeat and focus on rebuilding ahead of future elections.
Speaking on Channel One TV's The Big Issue on Saturday May 3, he emphasised the need for the party to move beyond grievances and internal disputes. "Obviously, there are some post-election grievances that the party [NPP] needs to work on.
I just hope that sooner rather than later, the party will be able to move from resolving all of these post-election grievances," he stated.
Dr Osae-Kwapong stressed that regardless of the factors that contributed to the party's loss, it is crucial for members to collectively accept the outcome and strategise for the next election cycle. "Get to a place where, regardless of who or what contributed to the defeat of the party, you can collectively own up the electoral defeat and then collectively start working towards the next election," he advised.
