The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has announced that the Greater Accra Region has recorded the highest number of fires, with 1,309 incidents, in 2024.

According to recent statistics, the Ashanti Region followed closely with 1,145 fires, while the Eastern Region ranked third with 648 fires, and the North East Region reporting the lowest number, with 16 fires.

In a press release dated May 1, 2025, a comparative analysis of fire data from January to December 2023 and 2024 revealed a decrease in domestic fires by 3%, from 41.5% in 2023 to 38.5% in 2024.

However, increases were recorded in bushfires, commercial fires, electrical installation fires, and other categories, the report added. "The Greater Accra Region recorded the highest number of fires with 1309 incidents.
