The 's (NPP) 2024 flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged that workers who lost their jobs during Ghana's recent economic downturn will be given priority for employment opportunities if the party returns to power in 2028.

Addressing supporters during a 'Thank You Tour' stop in Takoradi on Saturday, April 26, 2025, the former Vice President acknowledged the hardships many Ghanaians have faced, particularly those impacted by widespread job losses. "I know how it feels to lose your job, your daily bread.

We recognise the sacrifices you have made, and we are committed to restoring your livelihoods," Dr Bawumia said.

He outlined plans for a future NPP administration to roll out targeted job creation initiatives, focusing especially on displaced workers and those hardest hit by the country's economic challenges. "I assure you that in the next NPP administration, you will be prioritised for jobs," he declared, drawing enthusiastic applause from the gathering.
