The Ghana Police Service has provided further details on how two of its officers were murdered in cold blood on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Poyamirea near Binduri in the Upper East Region.

According to an official statement issued by the Public Affairs Directorate, the two policemen were in mufti and travelling on private motorbikes from Bongo to Binduri when they were attacked by unknown assailants.

The attackers, believed to be armed robbers, shot and killed the officers before making away with their motorbikes. "The Ghana Police Service is on a manhunt to identify and arrest the robbers," the statement said, adding that the names of the deceased officers have been withheld while efforts are made to notify their families in line with tradition. "We would like to assure the general public that the perpetrators of this heinous crime will be arrested and brought to face justice; and we will surely get them," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, who signed the statement.

The police further expressed their condolences to the families of the slain officers, their colleagues, and the regional commander, stating, "Our hearts and prayers are with you." Meanwhile, a separate but equally disturbing incident occurred on the same day in Binduri, where an unidentified man was also shot and later set ablaze by unknown gunmen.
