A vendor believed to have sold contaminated asana (a local corn drink) to pupils has been arrested and is currently assisting with investigations following a suspected case of food poisoning at two basic schools in Prampram.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, April 14, saw over 20 pupils from Prampram D/A Basic 'B' and Methodist Freeman Basic School collapsing during class hours.

Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes, with several children seen running and collapsing across the school compound.

Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George, confirmed the incident and the vendor's arrest in a statement shared on Facebook. "The vendor of the suspected 'contaminated' asana is assisting with the ongoing medical investigation.
