A former Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has stated there is no reason to debate about the new policy that stops contract extensions for public sector retirees.

He argued that the law clearly states that when a person reaches the age of 60, they should go on retirement. "There is no need for us to debate this issue.

The law is very clear that you must retire when you are 60.

Our major problem is the politicisation of everything in Ghana," he said on TV3 on April 12, 2025.
