Media personality Nana Ama Agyemang Asante has criticized President John Dramani Mahama, who also serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, over his attire at the graduation parade of officer cadet intake 63 at the Ghana Military Academy in Teshie, Accra.
During the ceremony on April 11, 2025, the President donned full military regalia, stating that he wore the uniform to pay tribute to the gallant soldiers of Ghana.
However, the journalist expressed her disapproval, saying, "I mean, how is it that no one in the room thought to say, hey, maybe this is wildly childish and undermines the very authority you're trying to project?
I need JDM's people to do their jobs well instead of enabling weird performance arts." In another post, she stated, "Our President, who already has a broad mandate and is the head of the armed forces, is out here playing dress-up like he's auditioning for a military-themed reality show.
