The Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson, has welcomed his acquittal by the Accra High Court as a clear vindication from what he describes as a politically motivated trial.

The ruling, delivered on Wednesday, April 9, brings an end to over three years of legal battles in which Quayson faced charges of forgery and perjury.

The prosecution alleged he held Canadian citizenship at the time he filed to contest the 2020 parliamentary elections.

Speaking to journalists after the court's decision, Quayson reaffirmed his belief in the justice system and maintained that he had done nothing wrong. "When you are not wrong, there is nothing you should worry about.
