The flagbearer of the (NPP) in the 2024 elections, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on April 9, 2025, visited the Member of Parliament for Assin South and Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee, Reverend , to show solidarity following what is being described as an attempted politically motivated arrest.

Ntim Fordjour expressed appreciation for the former Vice President's show of support during what he called a moment of political harassment. "Thank you very much, H.E. (@MBawumia), for the visit to my residence this evening following the politically motivated, lawless act of harassment by the NDC government in their attempt to gag MPs from exercising their legitimate oversight," he wrote.
According to reports, officers from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) stormed the residence of Rev Ntim Fordjour in an attempt to arrest him.
