The Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana (PHFAoG) has suspended its decision to halt healthcare services to National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cardholders, following firm assurances from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to settle outstanding claims by the close of business on Monday, April 7, 2025.
The PHFAoG had earlier announced a temporary suspension of services to NHIS cardholders, citing severe financial constraints resulting from prolonged delays in reimbursement.
The move, which took immediate effect on Friday, April 4, was part of efforts to draw attention to the cash flow crisis affecting private healthcare providers across the country.
However, following an exhaustive meeting between PHFAoG leadership and NHIA management, the Association announced a suspension of the action, pending fulfillment of the Authority's latest payment commitment. "We have been given a renewed assurance of payment by close of business on Monday, April 7, 2025.
