Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what she describes as poor handling of internal disciplinary proceedings, after showing up for a scheduled committee hearing only to discover that it had not been convened.
Speaking to the media at the party's headquarters in Accra on Monday, April 7, the former Deputy Majority Leader expressed her disappointment at the absence of the committee, despite receiving a formal summons. "As a party, we need to take these matters more seriously," Safo stated. "I came here ready for the committee meeting, but now I find myself in a situation where there's no hearing, no committee, and no explanation.
This could have been handled much more effectively." Safo had been summoned over remarks she made concerning the NPP's performance in the 2024 elections, which the party viewed as potentially damaging and a violation of its internal communication code.
Her appearance was expected to be part of a formal inquiry by the Disciplinary Committee.
