The Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the government's plans to reduce passport fees for Ghanaians living abroad, citing the significant decline in passport acquisitions after the previous government's fee increment.

He described the decision as harsh, noting its adverse impact on citizens both within Ghana and abroad.

Speaking to hundreds of Ghanaians during a community engagement at the Consulate-General in Lagos, Nigeria, Ablakwa acknowledged their concerns regarding the high cost of passports.

He assured them that their grievances would be addressed as part of an ongoing review of the Fees and Charges Act. "We are carrying out a comprehensive review of the Fees and Charges Act, and your concerns about passport fees will be factored in," he affirmed.
