In a heartfelt message, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his deepest condolences to President John Mahama, the government, and the people of Ghana following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of the defence minister, Dr Omane Boamah and seven others.

The devastating incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, while the ministers were en route to attend a programme in Obuasi, Ashanti Region.

Among those who lost their lives were the Environment, Science, and Technology Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed and the Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna Others were former Central Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong, and Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.

Members of the helicopter's crew are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu, and Sgt.
