Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak has revealed that the current NDC government does not plan to prosecute foreign nationals involved in illegal mining and fraudulent activities.
Instead, he says, such individuals will be swiftly deported once arrested.
Speaking during a meeting with the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Mubarak explained that the government's priority is to rid the country of foreigners contributing to the ongoing galamsey menace and related environmental destruction. "We're not looking at prosecution," he noted. "We want to deport them once they are arrested."He emphasized that this approach applies not only to foreigners engaged in illegal mining but also those involved in various scams and cyber fraud.
The Interior Minister believes deportation is a more effective way to deal with these offenses and send a strong message.
