The Communications Director of the (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has alleged that a plot is underway to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo and replace her with a candidate favoured by the current NDC-led administration.

Ahiagbah claims that the move is part of a larger plan to facilitate the removal of Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson Jean Mensah and other EC officials, whom he asserts the NDC views as obstacles to their agenda. "A grand scheme is underway to remove the Chief Justice and replace her with a preferred NDC-Mahama Chief Justice, who will implement the agenda of ousting the electoral commissioners (Jean Mensah and others)," he stated in a post shared on X on March 28, 2025.

He further described the alleged plan as a coordinated attack on the independence of state institutions and Ghana's democracy. "This is a premeditated attack on institutional independence and, ultimately, on our democracy," he wrote.

Richard Ahiagbah then urged Ghanaians to resist the looming agenda. "We must find the courage as citizens, regardless of where we belong, to speak out unequivocally against the politics of the John Mahama administration.
