Four local and international organisations have launched a project to promote timely release and distribution of vaccines in the Sub-region.
The project titled ECOWASRegECs is aimed at strengthening regulatory and ethical oversight for clinical trials, ensuring West Africa is better prepared for future health threats, such as Lassa fever.
The organisations are the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), in collaboration with the West African Health Organisation (WAHO), the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI), and the Ghana Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
It is anchored in expert-led training, featuring world-class regulatory institutions, including: Ghana FDA, the only regulatory authority in Africa with WHO Maturity Level 4 status in clinical trial oversight, PEI, Germany - A global leader in vaccine regulation, NAFDAC, Nigeria - One of West Africa's most advanced regulatory agencies, CEPI - A key player in Africa's regulatory preparedness.
