In an effort to prevent injuries and deaths, the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons has announced plans to train traditional musketeers on proper gun handling.

This move comes after the unfortunate killing of a queen mother at Nungua, as well as the popular case of the near-fatal eye injury caused to broadcaster, Kofi Adomah of KOFI TV, due to the mishandling of guns by musketeers.

According to Dr Adam Bonaa, Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission, the training program aims to educate musketeers on the safe use and handling of firearms. "We want to ensure that traditional musketeers handle guns responsibly and safely," Dr Bonaa said on JoyNews.

The Commission will collaborate with the National House of Chiefs to implement the training program and combat the mishandling of guns.
